In observance of Child Abuse Prevention Month (April), the community will come together to symbolically ‘break the chain of child abuse” during a special ceremony on Friday, March 18 from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. in the Crown Expo Center. Hundreds of children from across Cumberland County will join colorful paper chains together and then ‘break the chains’ to symbolize a stop to the abuse of children.  Also, the Champion of Children Awards will be presented to one professional, one volunteer, and one agency/group that has gone above and beyond to reduce abuse in the community. The ceremony, sponsored by the Exchange Club of Greater Fayetteville, is a joint effort between numerous agencies and entities in Cumberland County. For more information about the Break the Chain of Child Abuse event, call 910.678.2621 or 910.486.9700.
